Ex. Solve Y + 2  4  over {1,2,3,4}

 

            Replace y in the open sentence with each value in the domain (replacement set).

           

a.       1 + 2  4  true

b.      2 + 2  4  false

c.       3 + 2  4  true

d.      4 + 4  4  true

 

the solutions are 1, 3, 4 and the solution set is {1,3,4}

 

Ex. Solve 5x 1 = x  over {0, 0.5, 1.0}
